“A solid firewall in
appliance format (self contained unit) that also includes IPSEC VPN
(client required agent). The firewall has some clever features, just
one that we liked was its ‘segmentation zoning’. The segmentation is
similar to the ‘enclaved network strategy’ where separate parts of
the networks are sub divided, based on the security of the assets
(host data) within each segment. The advantage is rather than a
traditional “gateway only: in or out” stance, you have further
‘gates’ across and through the entire network. Rather like a trip to
local bank branch, in that you may be allowed into the bank or even
a meeting room (traditional perimeter gateway) you can go no further
as there are still various more walls and doors you would to have to
pass through to reach to the inner vault. This also suits the
“Security In depth” strategy where no single defence should be
relied upon. It is well worth considering if you want a cost
effective, feature rich firewall.”
